Gmail service now available in Irish language Gaeilge

Aimed at offering services in as many languages as possible to its users, Google just announced that its e-mail service is now available in Irish language Gaeigle. Although it is spoken by a small group of Irish people as a first language, there is a larger group of people who use it as a second language.

According to Irish Times, this new extension was possible with the help of volunteer translators and localization teams around the world who worked on a big translation project. It was followed by the idea of one professor at the University of St. Louis, Missouri, who told Google about the idea of translating the Gmail service. It took about two months of tests from Google staff to decide whether the new localized version of Gmail will go live or not.

Gmail is currently supporting 71 languages and it covers approximately 95 percent of the population.
