Microsoft announced new features for its Translator app

Microsoft announced an update for its Translator app for both Android and iOS that includes new and improved features for users. The Translator app for Android has a new AI powered on-device translation engine which supports offline translations for situations where Internet connection is poor or lacks completely.

According to Microsoft, the offline mode is possible with the world’s first Deep Neural Network-powered offline engine that can provide users “near online-quality translations”.

As for the iOS version, there’s a new image translation feature called OCR (Optical Character Recognition) that lets users translate text from their camera roll or saved pictures. It will be available in more than 20 languages, such as German, French, Chinese Traditional, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian and more.
